If you suffer from dark or baggy under eyes, our team at Louis William Apostolakis, M.D provides cosmetic surgical options including eyelid surgery and tear trough implants. We perform these procedures to improve the appearance of the eyelid and upper cheek to give your complexion a youthful glow.
Correcting eyelid bags is one of the more complicated facial plastic surgery procedures. In the ideal eyelid, the cheek and eyelid blend together seamlessly with increased volume from the smile fold toward the lower bony edge of the eye socket. More often than not, a “bag” is not the result of too much bulk under the eye, but rather too little volume in the upper cheek, thus creating a hill/valley that casts a shadow into a dark circle.
In the past, surgeons used to remove excess volume from the cheeks and lower eyelids to smooth out the contours of the face. This method left patients with hollow facial features. Dr. Apostolakis does the opposite by adding volume in strategic areas to smooth out the lower eyelid and upper cheek area.
Meet with Dr. Apostolakis to discuss your goals and create a tailored treatment plan.
Tear trough implant procedures take place in our accredited outpatient surgery center, which is attached to our office. The primary concern in correcting eyelid/upper cheek problems is not removing what’s there, but rather restoring volume. There are multiple approaches to volume restoration: Restylane, which offers temporary correction for mild cases, and Dr. Apostolakis’ preferred method, Tear trough implants.
Dr. Apostolakis has performed over 1,000 tear trough implants over the past decade In this approach, the implant is placed through the backside of the eyelid, leaving no visible scar. This procedure can be combined with other facial surgeries, which commonly include upper eyelid and/or facelift.
The recovery process may include the following:
Bruising commonly occurs as a result of lower eyelid surgery, and generally subsides within 2 weeks of the procedure. Swelling can take 6-12 months to fully resolve, though the average observer likely won’t notice swelling after 2 weeks. Patients can expect a reduced sense of feeling in the cheek and upper lip area for a couple of months after the surgery.
Some of the risks of the procedure include:
Unveil your refreshed, natural-looking appearance and renewed confidence.
Generally, lower Blepharoplasty with and without implants costs around $6,500 – $7,700, but will also depend on several factors.
Financing options are available to help you achieve the look you desire.
