I WANTED TO GET MY EAR LOBE REPAIRED ASAP FOR A MORE PROFESSIONAL APPEARANCE. IS SURGERY NEEDED?

Dr A’s Answer:
Gauged Earlobe Repair: The hole that a gauge leaves behind will never heal closed on it own. It may get a bit smaller when left free of any insertion over the course of a few weeks or months. Repairing the hole varies in complexity depending on the size. Larger loops of skin require “flap” type repairs whereas smaller holes can be closed with direct closure or a modified version of that. Either way, the repair is typically done under local anesthesia and you can drive home afterwards. Returning to most activities is typical the next day and pain is minimal.
