Types of Facial Implants

Recent studies have proven that people are more attracted to the face than the body due to the face’s identifiable nature and ability to communicate thoughts, making facial surgery and facial implants a desire for many people. Different implants are manufactured or custom-designed for the contours a patient would like to receive on his or her face.

Though the implants may differ between the parts of the face that they cover, they all are similar in that they are placed beneath the skin or tissue of a patient to achieve separation in the parts of the face and an overall better look. The most common facial implants are:

  • Nose Implants: After an incision is made inside of the nose, a physician inserts a silicone implant that will allow protrusion of the low, high, or arch part of the nose. Implants may also increase the width of the nose.
  • Chin Implants: Some patients do not have a chin protrusion, forcing their neck to converge with their face. Chin implants provide separation between the neck and face and come in many different lengths and widths.
  • Jaw implants: Jaw implants provide a more defined face by decreasing the parallel between the sides of the face and the sides of the neck.
  • Cheek implant: Volume in the upper face is a feature requested by many patients. This separates the jaw from the portion under the eyes.
