Non-Surgical Wrinkle Removal

As people start to age, they begin to develop wrinkles, especially in the facial region. Many individuals dislike these signs of growing older, and they opt to remove these unwanted facial features through cosmetic surgery, both surgical and non-surgical. Non-surgical options are quite popular due to the low amount of recovery time necessary after the procedure has been carried out.

What Options are There?

There are several different options for patients to choose from, when they decide to attack their facial wrinkles. One of the most common procedures that people opt to undergo is called a Botox injection. During this treatment, a material called Botox® is injected into the area of concern. This chemical blocks neurotransmissions to the muscles of that region, preventing them from contracting. The lack of contractions eliminates wrinkles in that area. Botox injections typically last for a few months before their effects wear off and they need to be repeated.

Wrinkle fillers are another viable non-surgical option for removing unwanted facial lines and folds. These fillers are essentially injections under the skin that fill up a crease, causing it to look smooth again. Wrinkle fillers can be made of temporary materials that are eventually absorbed by the skin such as collagen, calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-L-lactic acid, and hyaluronic acid gel. More permanent PMMA injections are also available.
