Laser Skin Resurfacing and Scarring

Laser skin resurfacing can help facial scarring. There are varying levels of treatment and recovery time. To see the most permanent results, the deep peel resurfacing method is used. A medium peel resurfacing method can also be used for less severe scars or for less recovery time.

How Does the Deep Peel Procedure Work?

The deep peel resurfacing method uses a laser to improve the irregularities in your skin. A dramatic improvement in scars can be achieved with this procedure. The recovery time is about two weeks before you can begin wearing make-up and about six weeks for total healing. This procedure is not one that is typically repeated for the exception of perhaps many years later.

How Does the Medium Peel Procedure Work?

The medium depth resurfacing method uses the same laser as the deep peel procedure and is good for scars that might result from acne or scars that are similar in severity. A medium peel is typically done in a single peel and requires about a week of recovery time. The results are a dramatic improvement with a short healing time, making it a popular option. The results are not permanent but long lasting. The procedure may need to be repeated every year or two.
